NEW GAP

Apply for NEW GAP funding

IMG_8302.jpeg

We aim to help preserve the natural environment and protect wildlife through funding of projects with either direct impact or through community engagement by educating others in the importance of wildlife and nature.

Being a small charity, we are able to support small local projects with focused needs by funding projects either in full or in part.

Usually we prefer to fund targeted projects where we can see distinct beneficial outcome as a result of our support. Especially those that:

  • protect wildlife and natural habitats

  • maintain natural ecosystems.

  • encourage public interest and participation in conservation projects

  • support nature by providing suitable new local environments

Funding levels

Please note: only funding at level 1 is available for the remainder of 2026
New budget will be released in 2027

Level 1:
£50 to £1000

These smaller grants are typically intended to help bridge modest funding gaps for projects that already have some financial backing. They may support community-led or volunteer-run initiatives such as local environmental improvements, small-scale habitat creation, or practical actions that benefit wildlife. Grants at this level are often used to complement funds raised locally or received from other small grant providers.

Level 2:
£1001 to £5000

Grants at this level are usually aimed at more established and formally structured organisations, such as charities, trusts, parish councils or schools, delivering a programme of related environmental or wildlife-focused activities. Funding may contribute to multiple projects over a period of time, provided the organisation has appropriate governance and financial arrangements in place to manage grant funding responsibly.

Level 3:
£5,001 to £30,000

These larger grants are intended for well-established organisations undertaking significant projects that deliver clear and lasting benefits for wildlife and natural environments. Priority at this level is given to initiatives focused on the creation, restoration or enhancement of habitats, including projects that improve ecological resilience, biodiversity and long-term conservation outcomes. Funding may support substantial elements of larger programmes where additional resources are required to maximise environmental impact or complete key components of habitat-based work.

Funding process

Our application process is straightforward and easy to complete:

  1. .Contact us using our contact page with a brief outline of your project and estimate of total cost. Please fill in all sections of the contact form.

  2. We will provide feedback as to whether the project idea is within the scope of out charity, both in terms of aims and budget. If we indicate that the project is suitable for consideration, we will invite you to fill in an application form. This does not mean we have accepted your project for funding at this stage.

  3. Complete an application form where your project aims are set out with financial requests of each stage of the project. In some circumstances we are able to provide funding at the outset of the project.

  4. We review your application and provide a decision on funding within 2 weeks of the application.

  5. If you are successful in obtaining funding from NEW GAP, we then sign a joint funding contract before the project starts.

  6. Project progress is monitored using forms to capture progress and financial evidence/requirements.
